Farmer Jerome Laronze wanted to work in an animal-friendly and small-scale manner, but that brought him into conflict with authority. Now he is dead.

Jérôme Laronze was convinced: if you want to save the environment, you have to go back to traditional farming methods. He was emphatically against intensive livestock farming and chose his own path: animal-friendly and small-scale.

His opposition to vaccinations, antibiotics and other European regulations brought him into conflict with authority. His farm was in danger of being evacuated, his cows taken away.

Then, on a Saturday in 2017, Jerome was killed in his car by three bullets from a gendarme. The circumstances of his death have still not been clarified.
