Die Aktivitäten von Gentechnik-Konzernen wie MONSANTO, DuPont/Pioneer, Bayer, BASF, KWS, Dow und Syngenta betreffen unser tägliches Leben. Alle diese Unternehmen kooperieren miteinander. Über Jahrtausende bewährte Kulturpflanzen werden durch gen-technisch veränderte und damit verfälschte(GV) Pflanzen verdrängt und zerstört. Nahrungsmittel, die Verunreinigungen durch solche Pflanzen enthalten (können), landen auf unserem Teller. Ziel der Konzerne ist es, die weltweite Landwirtschaft und Lebensmittelerzeugung unter ihre Kontrolle zu bringen. Allen voran ist es MONSANTO mit seiner aggressiven Vorgehensweise gelungen, seine weltweite Dominanz von gentechnisch verfälschtem Saatgut auszubauen: Mit der Aussage: „Wir wollen die weltweite Nahrungsversorgung kontrollieren.“ Über 90% der weltweit angebauten gentechnisch verfälschten Pflanzen werden von MONSANTO kontrolliert. Der Weltagrarbericht 2008 zeigt, dass Monokulturen, Chemie-Einsatz und GVO dem Recht auf Ernährungssouveränität der Weltbevölkerung widersprechen.
Es gibt Alternativen: Diese müssen gefördert werden!
MONSANTO (USA): Weltweit größter Hersteller von GV-Saatgut und (den dazugehörigen) Insekten-, Pflanzen- und Pilz-Giften. Gilt als aggressivster GVO-Hersteller, in der juristischen und lobbymäßigen Durchsetzung seiner marktpolitischen und finanziellen Ziele und in der juristischen Bekämpfung von Gegnern und Landwirten, die in Konflikt mit den Herstellern geraten, z.B. Percy Schmeiser, Kanada.
Versucht, mit der Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) und den anderen Konzernen gentechnisch verfälschte Produkte in Europa durchzusetzen. Versucht weltweit jegliche Kennzeichnung zu verhindern. Startete als Chemie-Unternehmen, u. a. als Hersteller von Agent Orange und krebserregenden Chemikalien mit PCB.

Japanische Wissenschaftler belegen: Die These, GVO seien substantiell äquivalent zu herkömmlichen Pflanzen ist falsch. In den USA fordert der angesehene Wissenschaftler Don Huber „ein sofortiges Moratorium für die Freigabe von RoundupReady-Pflanzen“, da die Pflanzen- und Tierkrankheiten bereits „epidemische Ausmaße erreichen“. Ein neu entdeckter Mikro-Pilz sorgt im Zusammenhang mit dem Totalpflanzengift Glyphosat(Markenname z.B. Roundup® von MONSANTO) für weitreichende Ausfälle u.a. bei Gensoja und Genmais. Auch Fehlgeburten und Unfruchtbarkeit bei damit gefütterten Tieren sind die Folge. Rund acht Prozent der Maisernte der USA sei deswegen 2010 ausgefallen. Pflanzen und Tiere, die weder mit Gentechnik noch mit Glyphosat in Berührung kommen, sind laut Huber davon nicht oder kaum betroffen.
Risikotechnologie Gentechnik! Die Auswirkungen der Gentechnik auf Mensch und Natur sind
weitgehend unerforscht. Zahlreiche Hinweise auf gesundheitliche Risiken beim Verzehr genmanipulierter Lebensmittel werden nicht weiter verfolgt. Die ökologischen Risiken des Anbaus von Gen-Pflanzen sind nicht absehbar. Der Gen-Pflanzen-Anbau befördert großflächige Monokulturen. Dies und das so genannte Landgrabbing gefährdet die bäuerliche Landwirtschaft.
